انیمیشن از نگاه گلپایگانی

نگاه علیرضا گلپایگانی به انیمیشن ایران و جهان

خبر از کانادا

Salaam Mr.  Golpayegani,

My name is Maral Mohammadian. I am the Director of the Television Animation Conference which is organized by the Ottawa International Animation Festival in Canada. I was put into contact with you by Mr. Majid Ansari, cinema faculty member at the Art University in Tehran.

I am writing to ask for your assistance with a discussion session we are considering at the upcoming Television Animation Conference (TAC). TAC is a 2 day forum for television producers and broadcasters and was introduced at the festival for the first time last year. As part of the programme, we focus on new and emerging markets that present opportunities for producers. Last year, we presented a panel on China's growing industry and attracted a sizeable delegation from China's top animation production, distribution, broadcast and government sectors.

I'm currently researching interesting cases for this year and am considering a focus on the Iranian animation industry. It seems that the National Film Board of Canada (Canada's largest animation production studio) is receiving a number of co-production inquiries from Iran. While I recognize Iran's prominent independent filmmaking, I have not come across much information about Iran's commercial animation industry and am wondering if you could give me some insight. Do you know how much original animation is broadcast on Iranian television? How much (if any) coproduction is Iran involved in? Are there any significant changes taking place that would be of interest to international producers/broadcasters?

I have also written Mr. Noureddin Zarrinkelk, President of ASIFA, who has contacted Saeid Tavakolian. Can you recommend anyone else who would know about this topic? Could you recommend any resources where I can find this kind of information?

I would really appreciate your input. Any information in English or Farsi would be very helpful to us.

Also, as animator and director you might want to consider submitting your work to our festival, which is the largest animation festival in North America and one of the most respected in the world. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2005. Full details are available here: http://us.f527.mail.yahoo.com/ym/.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards,

Ms. Maral Mohammadian
